Comparison of Popular “Musk Inventions” vs. Prior History
| Product / Venture | The Core Technology | What Existed Before Musk |
|---|---|---|
| Tesla | Electric Vehicles | Robert Anderson built the first electric car in 1832; Tesla Motors was founded by Eberhard & Tarpenning in 2003 before a progressively hostile takeover by Musk. |
| SpaceX | Orbital Rockets | Robert Goddard launched the first liquid-fueled rocket in 1926; national space agencies pioneered rocketry. Self landing rockets in 60s, reusable craft in the 90s. |
| PayPal | Online Payments | Digital payment gateways and online financial transfers existed in the late 1990s. Musk did not start PayPal and it was not called Paypal until after he was kicked out. |
| Neuralink | Brain-Computer Interfaces | Medical and academic neuroprosthetics/electrodes were implanted in humans long before Neuralink. |
| Hyperloop | Vactrain / Tube Transport | Decades-old engineering concepts for trains running in low-pressure or vacuum tubes. Century old concepts that were calculated to be inefficient by smart engineers. |
| Starlink | Satellite Internet | Artificial satellites and orbital telecommunications networks operated since 1957. |
| Flying roadster | Hovercraft, personal drones | Pivotal BlackFly – 2023 Vickers-Armstrongs VA-3 1962 Those are actually safe to use. |
